Sims 2 Skin Default Replacement
• I'm using Lumias Vanilla Default Skin with the Whisper Eyes and the face overlays from heihu and viiavis amaretto one.
• Even though I have tried several replacement skins - including Luumia's new skin blind, Vanilla - I stuck with Smoothish II by Luumia. I have also tried to go back to no skin replacement at all, but I just missed it. I only use MM CC and I think it goes very well with the overall style of the game.
Below a comparison (background also by Luumia):
If I just posted an outfit you like, I have good news - there is more where that came from!

we all try .
• Not in the present game - I don't use CC or any mods until a game is finished being developed. Hoop jumping is not my thing nor is waiting to update - so I only use those kind of things in finished games.
I have skin defaults or default replacements and CC in Sims 2 and 3 - only. I rarely ever use mods.

• @Netzspannung
I had the exact same experience. I've used Smoothish II for awhile and when I tried out Luumia's new default skin I didn't like it as much.
• I don't. It's too much work for me to try and keep things up to date. But I also don't like the inverse affects of using them. I think that's my biggest problem, if that makes sense? Like I've seen some sim youtubers use them in CAS and it sort of.glosses over any problems they couldn't fix. And there was one who took them off her adult aged Sims and yiiiikes. They got old fast lol 😂
Obviously I don't think everyone who uses them does so in this way, it's jus the stark difference between with and without that causes me to not want to use them. I prefer the Sims 4 style over the hyper realism of some cc, but I really enjoy subtle cc when I can be bothered to download it. 😉
• I don't currently, but his thread makes me want to start! Figuring out which ones to go with will take some time though.
• I use Are We Electric default skinblend by Pyxis.
• I currently don't use any, but I once had one in my game and it made the eyes look so anime-esque which just doesn't fit TS4s art style at all imo. They all either look too realistic or the difference to the default are so small that I don't even bother.

This is actually something I hadn't thought about but I realize it now. One of the main reasons I don't like watching Let's plays with MM body replacements (Alpha is just a hard no, I won't follow anyone using that) is because many of them are very forgiving, or specifically shaded to be forgiving. It is very telling too when you download a Sim with CC and the game removes it? Often (and I am not meaning any Simmer specifically here! Not naming names or anything!) it turns out the Sim is ugly or weird looking or both, but the CC covers it up.
Anyway, In Sims 3 I refused to play without default replacement skins, but the Sims 3 Sims were just so ugly.!
Edit: Looking at the Default skin mentioned above tho it does look good. but of course the download server is down the one day of the year I want to try it.

• For me it varies with what am trying for in any given game. Right now am mostly stock EA but with some experiments usning overlays and replacements, mostly by RemusSirion, but some others. Sims with CC skins also get CC hair as that seems to just look better. Since TS4 has only 4 skins (5 if you count Polly Tech's 'Martian Green') I've gotten CC, mostly from Parismonious (all sorts of great stuff on her site, but not sure if it's still around), for times when I want to add alien races of various sorts.
I fully agree with Beardedgeek that TS3 sims are ugly, with a capital U! And they all look alike. One of the reasons I never got into 3. Why have homogenous sims when TS2 is variety galore? Maybe it's worth following you lead on that.
• No, I think they look a little weird. I'm not too crazy about the fact that TS4 Sims, as they are aren't very photorealistic, but also, dealing with the skins and keeping them up to date. I did have a few downloaded Sims that used and were packaged with them; even made a couple of them on my own. While I thought I deleted most of them (and reworked my own Sims to no longer need those skins), somehow I missed my versions of households that used those Sims. Since MCCC is set up for the game to only draw townies from my tray, I've gotten a few of those Sims without their CC. Some Sims look OK without these skins, others quite hideous compared to what they're supposed to.

I am using RemusSirion non-default skin replacement and really love it. I don't think there are default skin replacements available as right now, I presume.

• I do. As for the one I'm using.
It's a secret to everybody.
• I use gerbitshi's Silky Smooth Skin. I usually make sims without cc and then add it back in later, though.
• I have Luumia's Vanilla Skin and I really like it.
• I have a eye default so far but haven't found a skin default that I like enough. But once I do find one I will be using one.
• Do any of these skin overlays affect the children? Toddlers? Teens? I'm asking because if I create a beautiful sim with a certain type of skin will my child inherit That particular skin or not?
• I want to but didn't find one that works for me yet. Skins are more complicated now than in ts3.
• I use Smoothish II by Luumia.
Comparison:
Upper: EA Default
Lower: Smoothish II by Luumia
• Do you use default skin mods or do you use the Sims 4 default skin?
if you use a mod which one do you use?
I'm curious you see, i may start using default skin replacement.

I use non-default instead so that I have the option of default skin tones. I have used default replacements but it would have me constantly changing defaults.
Playtesting - not just tabletop games and card games any more. Really that should have been playtested in Beta and not

Sims 4 Default Skin Replacement 2020

• Oct 31, 2009.
• So for female sims to have vulvas, you'd want this fixed version of Morague's Anatomy Bits overlay box which overlays nipples, pubic hair, and a vulva onto any skin, and/or this default replacement of the naked mesh which has a vulva.

Sims 3 Skin Default Replacement

It will change the normal skintones. So where you select the skintone normal it will be overridden with the shades from the defaults.
Did you put the file in your mods folder?
0
• Yes I did, but it didn't seem to make a difference. They all still look like cartoons, so I thought maybe they had to go into a different file. I did notice one little skin tile that I selected made them look a little different which is why I thought maybe it wasn't an overriding kind of thing.
• Do you have a link to which default skin set you downloaded? Maybe I can try it.
0
• It actually depends on whether it's a default replacement (in which case it WILL override the default skintones) or not (which is the most usual kind, it adds a new tile to your CAS menu for it). The creator usually specifies what kind of custom content it is.
If you're saying that, the skins you downloaded must be working perfectly fine on your game. But if you want to be really sure about it, consider moving its file to a different location before starting the game and check whether that extra tile is still in the CAS menu or not (only do this if you're sure none of your sims are using that skin, otherwise their skins might revert to default)
I hope this helps :)
